Stefan Weigl studied Electrical and Microsystems Engineering with a focus on analytical chemistry and optical sensor technology at the University of Applied Sciences in Regensburg, Germany. He completed his doctorate in the field of breath analysis using photoacoustic spectroscopy (PAS) to measure human breath acetone at the University of Regensburg in 2021. He is author and co-author of several peer-reviewed papers regarding photoacoustic spectroscopy and breath analysis. From 2016 until 2023 he led the breath analysis research group in the Sensorik-Applikation Centre in Regensburg investigating the detection of acetone and other breath components employing PAS. He edited and partially authored the book Breath Analysis – An Approach for Smart Diagnostics, published within Springer Link in 2022. Since October 2023 he is employed as a technology scout for a globally acting automotive supplier scouting and reviewing the technologies of tomorrow.
